More of what you need, less of what you don’t.
Drinks High in potassium
Science agreed.
Whether you’re a bodybuilder, occasional runner, or you just work hard and sweat, it pays to know the ingredients in your sports drink and how they work.
We believed there was a better way to get hydrated and maximize performance. And the science agreed.
Hydrate fast
Combat fatigue
Fight muscle cramps
Quench thirst
How it works.
IXL Electrolytes + Amino Acids works. It’s the first hydration beverage to address the critical imbalance between potassium and sodium found in today’s diet.

What is an electrolyte?
Electrolytes are simply minerals that carry an electric charge known as an ion.
They regulate nerve and muscle function, hydrate the body, balance blood acidity and pressure, and help rebuild damaged tissue. Muscles rely on the movement of electrolytes through the fluid inside, outside, or between cells.
For Example
A muscle needs calcium, sodium, and potassium to function properly. When these substances become imbalanced, that is when things start breaking down.
What’s your ratio?
Sodium is a critical electrolyte for peak cardiovascular performance, but more importantly is how sodium works in harmony with its counterpart potassium.
The sodium-to-potassium ratio is critical to cardiovascular performance. Most of the time, it takes every cell in your body constantly “working” in order to maintain this balance.
Our intake
Consider that our bodies actually only need about 200 mg of sodium a day for survival, and we already receive this (and more) through our everyday diets. In fact, athletes today on a typical western diet are consuming nearly twice the sodium they should be while only getting about 1/2 the potassium they require.
In addition to its effect on our performance needs, a high sodium/low potassium ratio can lead to a higher risk of stroke, kidney problems, high blood pressure, hypertension, and heart attack.

Time for a change.
From the young athlete, to the Ironman, to the inner athlete in all of us, we have seen drastic changes in the science of hydration and sodium supplementation recommendations in recent years.
So drinking the high sodium/low potassium sports drink of yesteryear doesn’t make much sense in a time where our cells are literally bombarded with sodium, and many athletes are simply adding to the problem instead of addressing this critical imbalance.
That’s where IXL comes in.
IXL believed there was a better way to hydrate.
Our amino acid bound electrolytes (aspartates) help bring balance to the body and deliver fuel to the muscles and organs faster than ever before.
Using our Advanced Performance Matrix, IXL is designed to work in conjunction with the sodium already present in the body. IXL provides a much higher level of potassium as the primary electrolyte along with a unique combination of other vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
